On 27 September the Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea stated that Saudi F-15s flying from Khamis Mushait air base conducted 26 airstrikes in the previous twenty-four hours. The targets were in five provinces: Taiz, Al-Jawf, Marib, Dhamar and Saada. Casualties were reported but no specific figures given. Since the current escalation began, the Houthis say Saudi airstrikes and missile attacks have reached 1,085. On the same day Yemeni government forces said they had carried out 761 strikes against Houthi military targets and personnel over the previous seventy-two hours. They claimed 361 Houthi fighters killed or wounded and four “Iranian experts” responsible for operating and launching drones and missiles killed in Taiz province. Neither the Houthis nor Iran had responded to the government figures at the time of the report. Recent Houthi advances include the capture of the port city of Mocha and Perim Island. The group has announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia in support of the Yemeni government. Yemeni government sources stated on 11 September that the Houthis now control the entire western coastline and have pushed operations into southern Lahij province.
Official statements from each side list different tallies and different time windows. The practical picture is intensified mutual targeting and confirmed Houthi gains along the Red Sea coast. The 26-strike claim covers one day and five provinces. The government counter-claim covers three days and asserts higher personnel losses plus foreign specialists. The cumulative Houthi figure of 1,085 Saudi attacks supplies the longer baseline. Coastal control and the announced blockade raise the stakes for shipping and for Saudi logistics. The sequence is clear. Houthi ground advances, maritime pressure, Saudi air response, government force claims of heavy counter-strikes.
The pendulum is measured in sorties and coastline. The next public numbers will show whether the 24-hour and 72-hour rates continue or drop. Until those numbers appear the disputed casualty claims and the confirmed western-coast gains remain the available markers.
